Sanctiago Privacy Policy

Sanctiago is an iPhone game: you meet the saints on a map and in augmented reality, collect their cards, answer quizzes and play duels.
In short: no ads, no tracking, no sale of data. Your location and camera are used only while you play and are never stored on our servers. Without an account, your progress stays on your phone.
Who is responsible?
Sanctiago is published by Charles Royer, an independent developer (private individual), who is the data controller under the GDPR. Contact: sanctiagoapp@gmail.com.
Location
Used only while the app is open, to show the map and make saints appear near you. Your exact location stays on your phone: it is never sent to Sanctiago, never shown to other players and never stored in an account. To work, the app uses three services that receive approximate information, like any map app: map tiles of the displayed area (OpenFreeMap / OpenStreetMap data, and AWS Open Data for terrain), the weather service (Open-Meteo or MET Norway) with a location rounded to about 10 km, and Apple Maps routing for the saints' walking paths near you. These services also see your device's IP address, but never your name or nickname. Some of these services may process this information outside the European Union, in particular in the United States (Apple, Amazon Web Services), both of which participate in the EU–U.S. Data Privacy Framework.
Camera, microphone, photos, motion
The camera is used only for augmented reality, processed live on your phone: nothing is recorded or sent. Sanctiago does not use the microphone and does not access your photos. Motion sensors orient the map and AR, on your phone only.
Playing without an account
Your progress (level, points, saint cards, badges, settings) is stored only on your phone and is deleted if you remove the app.
Accounts (when available)
Accounts are not offered in this version yet. When they are: sign-in with Apple or Google (we receive an identifier and, if you choose, an email address; never your password). Stored data: nickname, age group ("15 and over"), avatar, and game progress (points, level, cards and capture dates, badges, items, sanctuaries used in the game with dates). Never your location. Hosting: Supabase, on servers in the European Union, kept until you delete your account.
Under 15
Players under 15 cannot create an account themselves: the app cancels the sign-in and offers to play without an account (nothing is sent). Without an account, Sanctiago can be used at any age.
Deleting your account
In the app: Profile > My account > Delete my account. Your nickname, profile and saved progress are permanently erased from our servers. You can also write to sanctiagoapp@gmail.com.
Legal basis
Data that stays on your phone is controlled by you through the iPhone permissions (Settings > Sanctiago). Requests to the map, weather and routing services are necessary to provide the game you use (GDPR Art. 6(1)(b)), and so will accounts when available. No advertising or analytics trackers are used.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you may access, correct, delete or export your data, or object to its use, by writing to sanctiagoapp@gmail.com. You may also complain to the French data protection authority (CNIL, www.cnil.fr).
